The focus is on two sources of field guide value: the massive integration of field guide information, and the long tail of field guide information (e.g., not everyone is interested in having a field guide about the crayfish of North America, but some people are).

business model

The Tangled field guide application executable is free and the standard field guide multimedia is priced low enough to be cheaper than paperback field guides but high enough for royalties to encourage broad participation by multimedia contributors.  In addition to the low priced standard Tangled multimedia sold by Eduneer, any photographer or recordist can sell their own multimedia, at any price they choose, as supplemental multimedia which integrates into the rest of the Tangled field guide information with a simple and fast link operation (i.e., the class list's 'select/link' menu item).
