Here is a list of the currently released free applications that comprise the first of the three universal field guide components: applications, topic text, topic multimedia.  For an overview of how to setup the universal field guide, see getting started.  A more detailed descrption of how to setup the universal field guide is in the appendix of the manual.

The universal field guide application was initially developed for Palm OS devices and is now being ported to Android, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile devices.  If you would like to receive an email notice when a port is available for your device, register here.

universal field guide application for Palm OS devices

• Run this installer application to install the universal field guide application, which is a generalization of the Peck application and capable of presenting multiple field guide topics.

species inventory (SI) application for Palm OS devices

• The species inventory application is optional, intended for users interested in logging information about their sightings of species.  Run this installer application to install the species inventory application, which is basically the old Species Inventory application.  The species inventory application is not required by the universal field guide application, but conveniently integrates with it for those who want to log their sightings (in a standard spreadsheet format).

auto-start application for Palm OS devices

• The auto-start application is optional, intended for users who want the universal field guide application to automatically start whenever the SD card with universal field guide topic text and topic multimedia is inserted.  Copy this start.prc application to your SD card's /PALM directory if you want the universal field guide application to automatically start whenever you insert the SD card into your Palm OS device.

universal field guide differential update application for PCs running Microsoft Windows OS
